I think the main difference might be that the animals and their energy don't necessarily stay once teh illustrations are done.
Actually a lot of them do. Wallaby is generally with me 24/7, I've gotten very used to him now (he has a non-invasive energy for the most part), though it's been years.
And then there are times when animals want to be with me even when I'm not drawing them. I'm kind like an 'open house,' in that respect.
